NBA All Star Weekend

The rosters are set for Team Lebron and Team Giannis for the NBA All-Star game in Chicago sunday February 16th, 2020. Both teams are filled with 5 starters and 8 players coming off the bench from a mixture of both the Eastern an Western conference. Many players are selected the starters from fan votes and the bench from coaches. Now wth not every player possibly being able to be selected, they are going to be a bunch of snubs. One of these sunbs are Minnesota Timber-wolves center Karl Anthony-towns, another is Wizards guard Bradely Beal. But as of Thursday February 13th one of the bigger snubs were subbed in as TrailBlazers guard Damian Lillard got injured so they put in Devin Booker in as injury replacement. I personally believe that team Giannis will win due to their size over team Lebron. But while the game may be the main event it is not the only thing that happens during the weekend, for instance all the contests that happen the day before which I think are more interesting than the main event. Like the dunk contest which is probably the second most popular event. This event is simple: just dunk the ball and you graded by the style, sound, and look of that monstrous dunk. While no one to notabile is in the dunk contest this year, there is one person a lot of people are interested in seeing again is Dwight Howard. That just means that this contest is bound to be a boring one. But on the other hand is the very hyped up 3pt contest. This is probably the most hyped one ever because off all the great shooters in the league now. So that is destined to be one of the best if not the best 3pt contest ever. Then there is the skills challenge which is just doing a bunch of drills and it’s really boring so I’m not gonna spend too much time on that overall. And that's all for the all star game that I’m gonna cover but if you wanna hear about the rising stars game look at Shane Flanagan’s article on that exact topic right here on LabrumCast.

The New XFL

Last Saturday February 8th, 2020 the first ever game of the new XFL was played between the Seattle Dragons and the DC Defenders. The XFL is a “new” league that is basically just a harder and less mean NFL and is only around for the talent that didn’t make the NFL to show themselves off. But the reason I said “new” is because the XFL used to be a league but immediately folded after their first season. But there is to little information about how the XFL is and will be I guess we'll just have to see how things turn out overall, and weather it can last the NFL’s vice grip on American Football.
