With the announcement of “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson, the director is looking for a family with circus ability and that hints at the famous superhero Robin (Dick Grason of the Flying Graysons). Also, it is the 80th anniversary of Robin. This is the history of Dick Grason (Robin/Nightwing).
Golden age of comics (1938/1956): Introduced in April of 1940 for Detective comics #38. A kid part of a circus had his parents killed by Anthony “Tony” Zucco. In the comic, Bruce Wayne (Batman) took the kid under his wing to become the first Robin.
Silver age of comics (1957/1970): Within the silver age, the time jumps. Robin becomes Batman. He does not do much after that. It jumps within multiple storylines of him as Batman and him as Robin.
Batman (1966 T.V. show): The Adam West Batman T.V. The show had a more campy feel and had Robin as Batman’s wisecracking sidekick. He was played by Burt Ward.
Bronze age of comics (1971/1984): Not much. He got a new costume. He also had to step down as Robin and in 1983 DC introduced Jason Todd who would become the Red Hood.
BTAS (1992): Robin is in it and it was good. He became nightwing later but in a T.V. movie “Batman and Harley Quinn”.
Nightwing era (in comics) 1995-2009: He became Nightwing in the comics when he was dismissed as Robin. He does become Nightwing after 2009, just in different timelines.
Batman and Robin (1997): Played by Chris O'Donnell Haven’t seen it honestly. Heard it was bad though.
Teen Titans (2003): He is facing off against Slade Wison in the show.
Young Justice (2010): Same as Teen Titans but with different villains
Teen Titans GO! (2013): Stupid version of Teen Titans. Hit or miss with jokes. Not much happens.
Titans (2018): He is Robin. He faces Trigon in the first season.
Teen Titans GO: to the movies (2018): Funny. Not like the T.V. show.
Titans (2019): Still Robin. Faces off against Slade Wilson in second season.
Teen Titans vs Teen TItans GO: Both Robins face off against each other in a multiverse battle. Direct to DVD movie. That does say something.
Titans (2020): Don’t know release date of season 3 but he becomes Nightwing.
Crisis…sort of (2020): Titans T.V. show gets a cameo in the arrowverse’s special “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.
The Batman (2021): Circus family being casted. That means we might see a good adaptation of nightwing in a movie.
