So many choices, only 5 chances. Applying for high school is hard if you don’t know where to go. Hopefully, with the applications right around the corner (opened online September 20th, closing November 1st!) you can make up your mind. Applications may have already been sent, so please hurry. While you may not know yet, these eighth graders are certain enough to put it into an article!

The artsy kids are definitely getting into these audition based schools. Jake Beeco, loyal LaBrumCast writer and Co-Chief of the same site, says his number one choice is Benjamin Rush Arts Academy for Visual Arts or Music. He plays the drums, and draws in his free-time outside of school.

Derek Yollin other Co-Chief of LabrumCast and artist, applied to Swenson for their cuanary, baking, and digital media programs. He is really exited and hopes he gets in.

Certain students are aiming for charter schools. Kayla Fox, Student Council Rep, applied to New Foundations to be with her family and friends currently attending and to also feel at welcome with their accepting environment.

Christain Menke had also applied to New Foundations because he wanted to go where his friends go, and found it interesting to apply to a school that uses a lottery to get in. He also applied to Swenson for mechanics, and he wants to better his skills there.

Hailee Holt has already applied to her number one choice, Franklin Towne Charter because of her grades and has heard good things from students already there.

Some students are even taking a swing for the second highest high school in the state! Valerie Wang is going to apply to Central High School, because it has a great reputation and she knows many people attending. Her grades are in perfect shape for this school, so there is a high chance of her getting accepted based solely on her academic records.

I, personally, am one of the artsy students applying for Rush. Visual arts all the way, baby! Even if you’re not an eighth grader, you should start thinking about where you want to go now. Good luck everyone!
